Grandparents

Just wanted to post this poem I found in honor of my grandparents. My grandfathers passed in 1990 and 2001. My Granny justed passed two weeks ago, so I have one grandmother left to talk to and
visit with. My niece had to a grandparents day project last week, part of which was to look up poems about grandparents online. I came across this one while helping her and thought it was perfect.
GRANDPARENTS
Grandparents are special people
with wisdom and pride.
They are always offering love and kindness
and are always there to guide.
They often make you feel
so confident and strong.
Their arms are always open
no matter what you did wrong.
They try to help out
in every way that they can.
They love all their grandchildren
the same whether you're a child, woman or man.
They are always there to listen
and to lend a helping hand.
They show you respect
and they try to understand.
They give their love, devotion and so much more,
that's easy to see.
Grandparents,
what perfect examples
of the kind of person that we should be.

Enjoy your grandparents while you can, they are a wealth of knowledge and fun.

Safe Sites For Children

Now I know that there are parents out there who can just plunk the computer down and let the kids have
at it. Unfortunately for my nieces and nephews I am not that type of person. I actually think there should be limits to what kids can access on the internet. I see no reason for anyone under the age of 18 to be on a social networking site for example. I mean honestly they spend all day at school with their friends and once they get home half the evening on the phone. So I have spent the past few years trying desperately to find enteraining safe sites for the little monsters to play fun games and even learn something. I am now of the mind that if I can ever figure out how to accomplish it I would love to create a place where children can visit that allows them to play games, get basic homework help, listen to music and watch videos all. No chat or forums involved and usernames can not have any resemblance to their real names. No personal information at all exchanged, no photo or video uploading.
Now why you may ask does this seem so important. Well I tell you I have had it up to my eye balls with news stories of kids who have been lured into dangerous situtations or had their identies stolen by some creep out there just waiting to pounce on them.  Parents aren't completely blameless there are those who need to spend more time paying attention their offspring instead of allowing the electronics of today form the young minds. However. there are parents who do spend time with their children and like myself wish that just for once it would be easy to find them a place to play that's a safe for all ages.  Rant over, have a nice day.

P.S. If anyone knows of such a site that already exists, please let me know where to find it.

Genealogy

Ok I know it's been awhile, so here goes.
I do a lot of family tree research a.k.a. genealogy.
Now the reason for this being my topic of the day is that I would like to make it known how
difficult this can be. There are elusive ancestors in every family and if you can't get anyone
to spill what they know then it's next to impossible to create an accurate tree. Here is how you
can help future generations in the quest for family history. Label your photos with full names
and dates, as well as the location if possible. You wouldn't believe how many unlabeled pictures
I've seen and thought gee if only there was something on the back I could learn a little more, maybe
connect this person/persons to the family tree somewhere. Another thing don't chuck old address books
out store somewhere you have no idea how useful they can be in the future. Write down or record
family stories. Try to keep a journal of birthdates, wedding anniversaries, etc. Any little bit helps
and your great-great-great-great descendants will thank you for being such a wonderful ancestor.

Morning? Really? Already?

The picture says it all. Haven't had the time or energy to get back and write lately but thought I could at least post a picture. And honestly who doesn't feel this way most mornings?

Clearance

Ok I was at one of the local malls today looking around to get an idea of exactly how much this years school clothes are going cost. First thing I do is look over the clearance racks. Occasionally there will be a good price on something that my niece will actually wear. I had never been to this particular mall and boy let me tell you I'm not looking forward to a return trip. I would love to know where they come up with their original prices and how they can call the lowered prices "clearance". Honestly how do they
expect you to purchase clothes for kids these days. It's outrageuos and I really don't see how they can think it's acceptable to charge you fifty dollars for a pair of jeans that is full of holes.  As I see it the big wigs of these stores need to be given the budget of an average family and told ok now these are things we need to buy this month and this is how much we have to do it with. Maybe that would wake them up. Then again I doubt it.

Welcome!

Having never blogged about a single thing I have no clue what it is exactly I'm doing here.
Now you may be wondering why I'm doing this at all. You aren't the only one. Being a
good friend and niece I follow three other blogs. This in it self is no problem and often
very entertaining. However, a few days as I tried to post a comment on of said blogs I was
redirected to page that had me creating my own Blogger account. Why, I have no clue, but
there you have it the first reason for me to do this. The second reason is The Princess of
Procastination's response to this event. Seems she agreed that I needed a blog of my own.
So here we are hopefully those who drop by will bear with me as I stumble through this
process and perhaps find a bit of entertainment along the way.
P.S.Credit for the title must go to my friend Karentia.
